WATERTOWN, MA – January 20, 2010 – Netage Solutions, Inc., a premier provider of CRM software and online reporting systems for the alternative assets industry, announced that company executives were quoted in recent articles in Hedge Funds Review and Hedge Fund Law Report, two leading hedge fund publications. The media coverage highlights Netage’s technology leadership and keen understanding of business and operational issues in the hedge fund industry.
Netage Managing Director Stuart Sheppard was quoted extensively in Hedge Funds Review’s IT roundtable, a special report on technology issues facing hedge fund managers that appeared in the December 2009 issue. Sheppard discusses a wide range of topics, including how Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) has democratized hedge fund software, making it accessible to firms of all sizes; the potential risks of developing custom applications; Excel’s limitations as a business management tool; how liquidity tracking software can help guide firms through extreme market conditions; and the role of technology in establishing investor confidence in hedge funds.
“Investors have made technology infrastructure a key component of their operational due diligence,” Sheppard says in the article. “Hedge funds that use Outlook and Excel alone won’t make the grade. Firms with strong systems and processes will.”
In the Hedge Fund Law Report article, Netage CEO Krassen Draganov contributes his perspective on the benefits and drawbacks of hedge funds employing rolling lock-up periods. According to Draganov, rolling lock-ups “discourage money from coming into and out of the fund. This stability in the level of funds helps prevent a manager from having to [prematurely] sell assets” in order to meet investor redemption requests. He goes on to discuss how rolling lock-up periods enable hedge fund managers to pursue less liquid strategies, and invest in private equity-type deals.
Subscriptions are required to access both articles, but the publications offer free trials.
